We have not yet verified how travellers currently reach Saint Petersburg from the airport serving it, so we are not publishing routes, operators or fares we cannot stand behind. For what is running on the day you travel, the arrivals information published by your arrival airport is the reliable source, and your accommodation will usually know what works best for the hour you land.
Helpful Tips
Purchase a 'Podorozhnik' smart card for discounted fares on the metro, buses, trams, and trolleybuses.
Use the Yandex Metro app for real-time navigation and station layouts within the extensive Saint Petersburg Metro system.
The Aeroexpress train provides a fast, premium connection from Pulkovo Airport (LED) to the city center.
For surface transport, use the Yandex Maps or Yandex Transport app to track bus and tram arrivals in real time.
Common Scams to Avoid
At Pulkovo Airport, unofficial taxi drivers inside the terminal may approach arriving passengers with offers of fixed-rate rides that are significantly inflated compared to the official taxi desk or ride-hailing apps. To avoid this, pre-book a transfer through a verified app or proceed directly to the official taxi stand outside arrivals.
Some currency exchange offices near the airport or in the city may advertise favorable rates but then apply high hidden commissions or use deceptive signage. This is a general tourist-area issue, so it's best to exchange only small amounts for immediate needs at the airport and use ATMs from major banks for better rates.
A known tactic involves individuals posing as 'porters' or 'helpers' at baggage claim or exits who aggressively take luggage and then demand an exorbitant, non-negotiable fee for their unsolicited service. Firmly decline any unrequested assistance and keep your belongings with you.
